DIY: “We Should All Be Feminists”

Time for another DIY! Now I don’t know about you, but I have been obsessed with the Dior “We Should All Be Feminists” t-shirt. I have seen them being worn by bloggers in many many different fashion weeks, and I love the idea of a graphic tee that can be dressed up or down.

The only problem is, I don’t have $710 to spend on a t-shirt!

So I decided to just make one for myself. 

I got one plain white tee (which was just lying around in my house), one set of transfer papers (got them 50% off at A.C Moore), and one printout of the slogan.

Total: $5 (cost of transfer papers)

I got the print out from this lovely French blogger, who also DIY’ed this t-shirt design. Here is her template for “We Should All Be Feminists” 

It was my first time using iron on transfer paper on a t-shirt so I was very nervous, but as it turns out, the process was really easy!

 

I found a plain white tee in my house 

Bought this set of transfer papers for $5 from A.C Moore 

Printed my slogan out on the transfer paper. It has to be printed as it’s mirror image! Make sure you print the words on the blank side, and don’t use a laserjet printer! (even though I did but it’s not recommended at all) 

Put a pillowcase underneath the shirt, place the design where you desire, and iron the transfer paper for 2-3 minutes while putting full heat and pressure on the design. Make sure you are ironing on a hard surface like a table (they don’t recommend ironing on an ironing board). 

Once the paper cools from the ironing, peel the transfer paper back, and you’ve got your design! 

I know this doesn’t exactly look like the Dior version, but it’s the best I could do in $5!
